Couple Sues 100 Companies in Asbestos Case

A Vidor couple is suing more than 100 defendant corporations, claiming the husband developed malignant mesothelioma by exposing him to asbestos, which was negligently used on the premises of the companies.

Charles Dees and Mary Guidroz filed suit against the defendants in Jefferson County District Court on November 19.

AMF Incorporated BP, A.W. Chesterton and Chevron are some of the defendants named in the lawsuit.

Charles Dees was a truck driver who regularly visited the premises of the defendants.

According to the court documents, Dees was exposed to asbestos all through his career from 1950 to 1980.

The medical records say that Dees was a smoker too. Smoking combined with asbestos exposure can significantly increase the chance of developing mesothelioma.

The lawsuit alleges that defendants negligently used asbestos-containing insulation on their premises. These insulations were either manufactured or sold by the product defendants, according to the lawsuit. Being a regular vaster, Dees was continuously exposed to asbestos fibers and developed malignant mesothelioma. He was diagnosed with the disease in April 2007.

The plaintiffs are seeking unspecified amount of damages.
