Asbestos Victim’s Friends Strive to Raise Funds

An asbestos victim’s friends are in attempt of raising funds to help provide her with the money that she has to pay for medical bills.

Shanna Kurtz, of Texas, is suffering from mesothelioma for ten years. She is 30 years old.

Mesothelioma is a cancer caused by asbestos exposure. There is no known cure for mesothelioma. Shanna Kurtz was diagnosed with the terminal disease in 1999, when she was only twenty years old. There are various types of mesothelioma. Shanna is suffering from the peritoneal form of it.

Shanna’s friends have formed a group known as ‘Cook for the Cure’. The group gathers every Sunday and prepares a meal. Those who come for enjoying the food are requested to make a donation. This donation will be used to pay the huge medical bills associated with the treatment of Shanna’s disease. The event was started one month back.

Cook for a Cure dinners have managed to raise approximately eleven hundred pounds so far.

The Cook for a Cure group has further plans to raise more money. They are planning a charity bike ride now. All residents of Shanna’s hometown will be invited to attend the barbeque and bike ride. The entry fee would be thirty dollars.
