Albany woman fined for violating asbestos regulations

An Albany woman was fined $8,417 by the Department of Environmental Quality for allowing an unlicensed person to handle an asbestos abatement project.
Courtney Brown, a DEQ official, said that the appeal that Ms. Wanda Fay Scheler had filed on Jan 16 was denied.
Scheler hired two laborers in August 2007 for a renovation project.

W.R. Grace & Co. requested this week for a two-year extension of its $250 million bankruptcy loan.
